Our friends at Shulamit Nazarian in Los Angeles contacted us to highlight and congratulate artist Genevieve Gaignard for her recent acquisitions by The Studio Museum in Harlem and the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University. Gaignard is a LA-based artist best known for her photographic self-portraits, installations, and sculpture.
Gaignard’s work was brought to the Nasher Museum of Art by curator Trevor Schoonmaker who she worked with on Prospect.4: The Lotus in Spite of the Swamp in New Orleans. The five photographs obtained by the museum are said to be on view this fall. Additionally, an installation of Gaignard’s entitled So She Passed was added to The Studio Museum’s permanent collection.
