In a joint presentation from M+B and Ghebaly Gallery, comes a two-part exhibition featuring new work by Aaron Fowler. In large-scale installations that pay homage to special people in his life, Fowler utilizes a variety of found materials assembled through practices of both painting and sculpture. Fowler sees these works as a means of symbolically manifesting limitations, milestones, and dreams — with an improvisatory tone through and through. This is further reflected in his jam-packed use of materials and mosaic-like compositions.
At M+B, Fowler constructs a floor to ceiling installation of shattered mirrors and at Ghebaly Gallery, an installation of soil and sand alongside a cast of characters traversing the earth. At both venues, Fowler’s work addresses migration and the profound impact it can have on an individual. Evoking both violence and hope, the exhibition is also a reflection on the capacity of the artist’s autobiographical narrative to be applied to the wider world beyond.
An opening reception for Aaron Fowler will be held Friday, November 2 from 7 to 10pm at Ghebaly Gallery and Saturday, November 3 from 6 to 8 pm at M+B.
