ABRA ‘Crybaby’ (IGLOOGHOST Remix)
“You’re calling me a cry baby, but you’re making me cry.” ABRA’s silky voice can turn the darkest of thoughts into sweet and glossy celebrations. Following the release of her acclaimed PRINCESS EP this past July, Atlanta’s own “Darkwave Duchess” shares a new remix of lead track “CRYBABY” by Brainfeeder producer IGLOOGHOST. She also announced a run of UK and European dates including Pitchfork Paris Festival. There’s a lot to be excited about, especially this new version.
The synth-heavy remix sounds like a funk classic right out of the 80’s. The UK producer presses all the right buttons with flawless percussion and echo-drenched vocals without losing site of the captivating lyrics ABRA wrote for the original record. Speaking on his remix, IGLOOGHOST said, “The original ‘Crybaby’ was packed full of so many moments that were so nuts to me so I was really excited to do my own little spin on it. In my head, it sounds like a little water spirit girl crying in a Zen garden.”
How fitting. As a product of missionary parents, she was influenced by so many different surroundings growing up due to constant moving. Components of Miami Freestyle, electro-funk and 80’s pop, glow all over her music. She actually is the little water spirit girl.
