#AFROPUNK: Finally out of our Melanin Coma

This weekend we took a much needed trip to Brooklyn for the annual AFROPUNK Festival and lost our minds.  Not only were some of our favorite artists of 2015 and beyond hitting the stages but our cooler than life friends were bouncing around the park in full happiness mode. Upon arrival on Saturday we caught the tail end of Kelis’ set as she celebrated her birthday AND the special delivery coming in the form of baby #2, singing Milkshake in the heat.  We toured the crowds a bit that before settling in for Ms Lauryn Hill and  Grace Jones who took our night to another level.

For day 2, we didn’t have a moment to sit and sunbathe as the line up was jam-packed with amazing artists.  From Jesse Boykins III to Thundercat to Goldlink to a DJ set from Everyday People and Soulection to ending the night with “American Woman” by Lenny Kravitz…. *sigh* we had a blast.
