On February 18th, the Pérez Art Museum Miami held the Fifth Annual Reception for the PAMM Fund for African American Art, Art + Soul. In honor of this event, Alberto Ibargüen, president and CEO of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, announced that the foundation would match every dollar raised that year to support PAMM’s spectacular collection of African American Art.
The evening was enjoyed by many notable artists including José Bedia, Adler Guerrier, and Tomás Esson. PAMM Director Franklin Sirmans also announced that the painting, Chopped Cheese by Tschabalala Self, would become part of the Fund’s collection.
Said the president of the Knight foundation, Alberto Ibargüen, “We are thrilled to see how this fund has evolved and grown over the past five years. By offering a match, we’re supporting the Miami community in building a collection of great art by African American artists that will inspire and connect us all.”
