Carmen Argote is known for showing a deep connection between herself and the places she inhabits, and her first solo exhibition at New Museum is no exception. In As Above, So Below, Argote uses natural materials to represent the places she has inhabited as an immigrant. With paintings, works on paper, and a larger-than life sculpture piece, this collection emphasizes the interconnectedness of the natural world and themes of evolution and transformation.
