Is it pop? Is it R&B? Hip-Hop? Neo Soul? Brooklyn-based duo Cool Company continues to blur the lines with their new single, “Slice Of Paradise.”
The sensual vibes transport your bones to a beach and your soul to its happy place as vocalist Yannick Hughes (Cool Yan) croons and flows over producer Matt Fishman’s (Fat Matt) calming melodies. The duo displays a dynamic ability to paint a vivid picture of paradise as Yan raps, “Laid back, legs up, strong drink, big cup, no fucks, it’s just a little slice of paradise.”
The song marks the third release for Cool Company in 2016, following their poppy singles “Why You Gotta Make Me Do It” and “Call You Back.” However, “Slice Of Paradise” embarks on an older style for the duo, one that draws comparisons to Anderson Paak and their earlier work on The Summer Daze EP in 2015. The versatility is starting to turn some heads. Pass the vibes!
