Luxembourg & Dayan are exhibiting new works from New York based artist Derrick Adams, in a show titled Interior Life. Adams, inspired by the Catholic theology “A life which seeks God in everything,” meditates on on the intimate spaces of one’s mind and home. Apart of Adams’ Deconstruction Worker series, new portraits on paper are installed on custom wallpaper within the gallery, depicting imaginary domestic environments.
Architectural process and strategies inform Adams’ work, using floor plans, elevations, sections, renderings and construction a part of developmental states in his work. What’s he’s described as “non-traditional aerial landscape portraits” contain geometric human figures that appear in angular and constructed physical environments that are replete with the invisible force of the soul.
