Francisco Rodriguez’s Midday Demon uses the imagery of a man amidst a dull urban landscape to represent sites where the “midday demon” — feelings of loneliness, anxiety, depression, and hopelessness — commonly appear. This phenomenon is based on Rodriguez’s own experience with these feelings, or the demon, in his London base as well as his childhood city of Santiago, among other places he’s lived in recently. This collection subverts the positivity often associated with the sun, instead turning it on its head to represent times of utter loneliness.
The exhibit is currently on display at Steve Turner until October 12th.
