Genevieve Gaignard’s solo exhibition, A Long Way From Home, will be available for online viewing until December 7th through Vielmetter Los Angeles. A Long Way From Home is in conjunction with MCLA Berkshire Cultural Center’s Gallery 51 and examines race in America and the resurgence of Black Lives Matter protests around the country. Gaignard utilizes collage work alongside a variety of found objects to aid in exploring where the past and present intersect with the current reckoning of race. Viewers will get a sense of Gaignard’s inner conflict of challenging racist institutions in America and break the cycles of homophobia and racism in the United States to build a better home for all.
