Menswear Fall 2011: Yves Saint Laurent

The Yves Saint Laurent men’s collection this season was a melting pot of different perspectives. Stefano Pilati is still trying to find a unique voice that the brand can trademark and that is evident with this collection. The collection moves systematically from large circular cuts to square and slim cuts in suiting with plaid and shiny elements. The collection only showed 26 pieces, and each piece differed dramatically from the one before it. Throughout the collection, audiences got the impression that they were looking at several collections under one umbrella. Whether that is a good thing or not is still up for debate.
