Steve Turner will be presenting an installation work by Pablo Rasgado titled “This Too Shall Pass.” The exhibit will be showing from September 16th to October 28th, 2017.
“This Too Shall Pass” showcases selected works by multiple artists from Los Angeles and Latin America. Rasgado reconfigures recycled drywall fragments from museum exhibitions taken from the MoMA, Antwerp, and the Carillo Gil Museum of Mexico City, in order to recreate a space for the works by the other featured artists. The installation addresses the motifs of impermanence and transformation. Each artist’s work contains some form of material that had been used prior to its involvement in the piece, bringing up the concept of ephemerality. Furthermore, the building walls in Rasgado’s installation provides a kind of juxtaposition between artists from Los Angeles and those from Latin America, something that is not entirely new to his work.
