Zach Seeger and Amie Cunat will present a joint exhibition of new works titled Field Days at Arts + Leisure gallery. In addition to their own work, the two artists also collaborated on a painted environment in the gallery that utilizes the architectural elements of the space to fully immerse visitors. Both artists convey keen perceptions and relationships of color and line, as evidenced in their careful and dynamic approaches to painting.
The group of paintings Seeger will present is of houses and domestic interiors, along with carved wood sculptures. Through fluid brushwork, his paintings of suburbia and its residents are imbued with an ethereal, otherworldly quality. The domesticity of home life seems to flow and exude into the outside world and vice versa, as if the invisible boundary between them has been erased.
Cunat’s paintings will feature biomorphic forms and abstractions of natural subjects. Color is of central importance in her work as her sophisticated and unpredictable use of color conveys both alienness and familiarity at the same time. Her paintings also present a tension in that they are inspired by the natural world yet are animated and abstract.
The opening reception for Field Days will be held on September 13 from 7 to 10pm.
