Designer James Lillis had a tiny dream back in 2009, to make our leggings obsession even more adventurous. From that dream came Black Milk. From liquid tights with a punch ‘o’ gold to racey lace ups that leave nothing for the imagination, Black Milk is our answer to the legging craze that was on it’s way out.

Q&A: Marcia Hamilton – Celebrity Hairstylist
January 24, 2010 by Beauty
Marcia Hamilton is a LA-based, celebrity hair stylist who has masterfully coiffed the likes of Kim Kardashian, Serena Williams, Minnie Driver, just to name a few. Marcia sat down with AMMO to give us some insight on what fuels her passion, her favorite products, and style forecasts for Spring 2010:
1. What’s your AMMO (what inspires you daily)?
My biggest form of inspiration comes from traveling. I’m always excited to see what the hot trends are in different cities. Europe is the best! They seem to have the funkiest hair cuts and color. I think the people there are more free spirited, which makes experimenting with different looks something of the norm.
2. As a hair stylist, what is your signature hair style?
My signature style is the mohawk. I’ve had this style for seven years and live it.
3. What are the major hair trends for Spring 2010?
I think the major hair trends for 2010 will be short hair styles with lots of sharp edges and geometric shapes. We are seeing lots of structure in fashion everything is becoming very architectural, hair will mimic this pattern.
4. For women of color, what are the best hair care tips to transition to warmer weather?
When transitioning to warm weather, your hair should be prepped with protein treatments. A clear cellophane also helps to promote shine and protection from harsh UV rays.
5. You have styled the beautiful manes of Kim Kardashian and Jada Pinkett, to name a few. How can our readers get full, luscious, and shiny locks like theirs?
To achieve full luscious locks like the stars you need to invest in your hair treat it with care. Avoid daily heat styling. Sleep with a silk cap on your head or a satin pillow case under it. Get regular trims(6-8 weeks). Get conditioning treatments(2 weeks).
6. What five products are in your arsenal that you cannot live without?
I cannot live without Tancho Stick, J Beverly Hills Perfect Hold, Joico K-Pak Restorative Styling Oil, White Sands Phase1 Corrective Conditioner, Frederick Fekkai Glossing Cream.
7. Lastly, please let us know of any major professional plans you have in store for 2010.
I plan to establish a forum on line to help and encourage young hair stylists.

Hair Rules + Adrienne Bailon

For 2010, songstress and actor Adrienne Bailon took the plunge-she went blonde! For this transformation, she trusted none other than Dickey and his team at Hair Rules Salon in New York City to create her beautiful golden tresses. Dickey, a hair texture expert, has transformed his decades of experience into a salon and hair care brand that concentrates on creating the best hair possible for every texture.
Dickey and his team went to work, giving Adrienne gorgeous golden highlights, a clean cut, and a sexy blowout.
“I’m obsessed with my new color!” Adrienne gushed. “Ask any of my twitter followers – I literally ask at least once a week what color I should have. This will be my color for the next year at least. I just LOVE it – I look sun-kissed.”
Want Adrienne’s sun-kissed tresses? Here are helpful tips from Dickey and Hair Rules colorist, Katiria:
Step 1: Frame the face with light, golden highlights
“Start with a single a single process and a half head of pale, golden highlights,” says Katiria. “These highlights will brighten the face. Add lighter, golden pieces around the front; so that you get the sun-kissed look but you’re still a brunette. This look is going to be easier to maintain. Being a full blonde is a lot to keep up.”
Step 2: Hydrate your hair
“Shampoo your hair with the Hair Rules Daily Cleansing Cream – great for color treated hair,” says Dickey. “This no-suds formula has the perfect pH balance for bringing moisture back into your hair.”
Step 3: Don’t be afraid to get a trim
“Since she’s been trying to grow out her hair, Adrienne was hesitant to go for a cut,” says Dickey. “But when you notice your hair’s losing volume, it’s time for a trim. This will keep the split ends from moving up the hair, causing it to break off.”
Dickey gave Adrienne a simple cut, cleaned up her layers and blended her growing bangs into her haircut. He finished the look by applying the Hair Rules Nourishment Leave In Conditioner and blowing hair dry with a round brush to smooth it out.
