Radar on: Salah Barka
Salah Barka has never left Tunisia. Which is why it was all the more surprising when the self-taught former costume designer took the globe-trotting fashion world by storm with a collection dynamic with cultural hybridity. Working out of a little studio in his mother’s house in southern Tunisia, Barka crafted a line that transports you through the history of the country. Says Barka, “[it's about rediscovering] through the centuris, the cultural wealth of my country, Berber ot the Phoenicians, Roman ones, to the Ottoman and Arab, without forgetting the one, contemporary West.”
Barka’s line is called “Miles Away,” a tribute to the many global references that tie it together (from Arabic tradition to London designers) and to the fact that, as he has not traveled much, in his words, he has long been learning of the fashion world “from [his village], from home, miles away.”

New Brand: LFANT
While covering Nike ID and No Mas NYC’s collaboration, called 255 Elizabeth, for AMMO Magazine, I met Chris the brain behind the brand LFAnt. While I was customizing my very own Nike ID t-shirt he was telling me about this line of clothes that were football inspired from the day’s where football players wore wool sweaters with leather elbow pads and a helmet on the field. As he explained the concept of his brand, the symbol II used as the logo and why football I became even more intrigued. His line will be sold at the store Fresh Prince in Soho along with other one of a kind and vintage pieces starting on June 22.
