Malaya Velasquez
Tri-lingual mestiza spends most of her nights & mornings in west Harlem, running a tab at her local Bodega.
Born in the 90s to a young Bohemian couple in the L.E.S. she has been educated at the Hopi reservations in Arizona, I.S. 51., to her current pursuit at Fordham University NYC.
Writing and art was a constant in a generally nomadic childhood, and despite a stint in ESOL she has gone to win 2 National Essay Awards.
She has written for several blogs, and print papers concentrating in features, style, art & culture and the occasional subtle social satire. Her research paper has been published by Fordham University and her artwork published in Harvard University student Magazines.
Hesitant to call herself an artist, she works with a variety of mediums charcoal, creativesuite and mostly the pervasive communicative device: words.
